Island House

OK so something close to home, and we haven't been in awhile! Island House -Millersport (Buckeye Lake)

Randy has his usual:
Crab Cake Sandwich- he LOVES it!!! Always does!!
Buffalo Chips- OK

I had:
A junior Island Cheeseburger- it was OK, I wasn't impressed.
Waffle Fries- again OK

Adult beverages were included-
Randy- Bud light (always his drink of choice)
I order a Strawberry Daiquiri with Captain- the first was pretty good the second DID NOT have Captain in it.

The waitress- well lets just say I don't care if I go back- she could learn a thing or 3 about customer service!! We have never been disappointed at the Island House until now!!!!!!
$$ - worth it if you can get past the bad service.

The Italian Bread- was served COLD with butter and oil (I prefer warm bread) but it wasn't bad.

The place was packed, but what do you expect for New York City??? There was a party of about 20 "locals" in the same room with us. We did receive a nice seranade.

FYI:

Francis Family Restaurant

Our latest dinning adventure leads us to Francis Family Restaurant, in Cambridge, Ohio.
Letting a tip from a friend (thanks Tricia) lead the way, we decided to check out this new establishment.
Our dinner included:
Appetizer - Chili Cheese Fries - "not bad "

Randy ordered the special:

  • BBQ Ribs- "Nice slab of ribs, pretty good"

  • Corn on the Cob- "Served HOT,"

  • Baked Beans- "Couldn't finish , too full"

  • Scalloped Potatoes- "A different breed of scalloped potatoes, chunked not sliced"

  • Roll- "Cold"

Waynette ordered:

  • Pork Chops - "BLAH- very plain, had to request BBQ sauce for dipping"

  • Baked Potato- "nothing special"

  • Corn on the Cob - "Served HOT"

  • Roll- "Cold, and heavy- did not enjoy"

The staff was very friendly, a granddaughter told us that Grandma Francis makes the best Pumpkin and Peanut Butter Cheesecake just like on Thanksgiving. But with the portion size given to customers we were forced to pass.

  • The service was quick and the restaurant was clean and quite.

  • Price - $$

  • Breakfast menu looks really good!!
  • Worth the trip!!

Bay Harbor

Our most recent adventure takes us to "Bay Harbor" in Sandusky, Ohio (just inside the gates of Cedar Point). AKA- Point Yacht Club.

As always "something" has lead us to the establishment and tonight it was Randy's memory of the Es Cargo. He had not visited the Bay Harbor in 25 plus years, and the stories he shared with the waitress of 26 years had them both smiling.

Dinner included the following:

Es Cargo- "Succulent" - his words

Shrimp Cocktail- "Nice"

Salad

Oscar (blacked grouper) - "HMMMMMM"

New York Stip- "A steak, nothing exciting"

Baked Potato- "Nice"

Rolls- Warm

Couple of tips if you plan on visiting:

*Don't be in a big hurry - good food takes time- Enjoy the view!

*Don't forget to use your $10 parking voucher toward your meal of $20 or more - You will need it! $$$$$

*The park was closed when we were there for dinner, but the boats were still in the water- a plus in our opinion.
