J's American Pub - 1939 Roschman Ave, Lima, Ohio

$30 of DISAPPOINTMENT!!

This place is located right behind our hotel in Lima and with the RACE RAINED OUT,  we decided to grab some dinner.

Randy starts with the Fresh Tomato Pie - baked fresh herbs, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Parmesan & mozzarella cheese.  This he likes!!

We also ordered the Homemade Tortilla Chips with queso dip. For some reason these did not make it to us until the manager came over to ask how things were and we explained, so he took care of getting them for us, and there was not a charge.  We did really like the chips, but the cheese was super runny!!

Randy orders 12 boneless wings with garlic sauce, that were good, "not over hot, just enough".

I ordered the Chicken Breast Sandwich, grilled, with cheese and mayo (both of which they forgot).  The fresh cut fries we paid extra for, were too greasy to eat.

The service was really poor, if the manager had not checked on us, we would not have received our chips or refills.

Disappointment does not really cover the experience, rain or no rain next year -we won't be back!

Steve's Dakota Grill - Rt 23 @ I-95, Marion, Ohio

"Experience the Thrill of the Grill"

We have stopped at Steve's Dakota Grill in the past, and while on our way to Lima we wanted to give it another shot.  The restaurant is nice, always has a crowd, going for a rustic theme.

Randy orders something different tonight- Chicken and Roasted Artichoke Focaccoa Flatbread Grilled Chicken, with creminis, artichokes, red onion, cheddar cheese and asiago sauce baked on hand tossed Parmesan focaccia flatbread.

And it was AWFUL, bland, 3 pieces of chicken, way too much cheese, he just couldn't eat it!  We spoke to the manager and they took it off our bill.

I ordered Steve's Dakota Lodge Steak - 10 oz., with a baked potato, Randy ate my salad.  My steak was good!!  The menu says "A good steak, perfect for the smaller appetite" and it was right on the money!!

A few other bits of info from the menu:

Steaks are:
*Cut fresh on premise everyday
*Aged to perfection
*Flame broiled, seared HOT to seal in all the flavor and juices
*Seasoned with Steve's special blend

Will we go back??? Well that is a tough question, we have experienced both the good and the bad at Steve's.  Our waiter Kyle was really nice and at Randy's request brought an order of Pork Medallions for him to check out.

Randy left hungry and unhappy, but we might drive up to try the Medallions "they look good".

Give it a try if you are in Marion, chances are good we will be back!!

Chapz Bar & Grill - Belmont, Ohio

"Where Leather Meets Skin and All Hogs Gather"

42478 National Road West, Belmont, Ohio    Saturday, June 22, 2013

We have been to Chapz several times, and while out enjoying the sunshine on the motorcycle we stopped by for a late lunch.

We begin with Dips and Chips, homemade potato chips smothered in creamy Alfredo sauce, topped with feta cheese and chives, 1/2 an order so we can save room for lunch.

Randy has his usual - Chapz Tuna Melt, fresh seared yellow-fin tuna nestled between Swiss and cheddar cheese, celery, red onion, and mayo on  multi-grain bread.  With a side of fresh cut fries.  Randy says "this is A GOOD TUNA MELT SANDWICH!"  He does prefer the french bread, but wanted to mix it up a little today.

I ordered a Grilled Chicken sandwich, with a side of fresh cut fries.  A good sandwich!!

Chapz does not disappoint, the crowd on Saturday is a mix of folks on poker runs, and just those there to hang out for a quick bite and/or a beer.

The patio at Chapz is really something to see, they have put some time and thought into this place!  Full bar, big screen TV, fire place, all under roof. The patio is large, and open, when I asked if or how they closed the area in for the winter the owner told me they do not, and burnt several cords of wood last year.

Chapz is a fun spot, if you are out and about we HIGHLY recommend stopping by!!

Lori goes for something different, Ham and Cheese, with Egg, served on Wheat Bread- "Excellent" she says!!

Peg goes for a special order, Egg sandwich with Pickles, she gives it 2 thumbs up!!

We also enjoyed several bowls of popcorn, $1 a bag, and locally made Conn's snacks - thanks Ron!!

We all had a great time sitting on the patio!  Even had the chance to check out the Lorena as it went by!!  Good Friends, what a great way to spend the evening!

The menu at Terry's is small, but what they serve is good food, I have heard great things about their chili as well.

If you are looking for a relaxing evening, and something light to eat, we would recommend giving Terry's a try.  There is usually entertainment and Ernie is always fun to watch!!

We start with Frog Legs- Beer battered and served with your choice of sauces for dipping.  Randy and Eli really enjoyed them!

Randy ordered the Mahi Reuben, he has had this before and really liked it!!

Eli ordered a grilled cheese and fries, served on a frisbee.  He finished the grilled cheese, "it was yummy".

I had a burger and fries, it was good- hard to mess up a burger.

We enjoy Pappy's, the food is good, the service is great.  They have a really neat, patio type area.  Warning,  it can get a little loud inside.

The menu includes bugers, seafood, wings, and pizza.  We would go back, and would recommend it to anyone!!

Enjoy, and be a member of the clean plate club!!!

The Copper Penny Tavern

15396 Township Road 403 (Honey Creek Road), Thornville, Ohio
Saturday, June 1, 2013
#Copperpenny

Tonight dinner is close to home, a favorite - the Copper Penny.  There is a band there tonight and the patio is packed, boats everywhere!  We were able to find a table on a different level of the patio where we could still hear the music and have a little conversation.

Randy orders an "All the Way- Calzone", really good eats, several people walking by stopped to ask what Randy had ordered and if it was good, of course he offers them all a piece!

I had a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with cheese, and french fires. It was a good sandwich, and the fries were similar to fair fries- my favorite!

It was a great evening, great food, and our waitress Sarah was great too, she took care of us, checking on us often, and just made our night!!!!  Nice job Sarah :)

La Cascade Mexican Restaurant

1421 River Valley Blvd., Lancaster, Ohio                     #lacascademexicanrestaurant
Monday, May 27, 2013

Honesty is what we are striving for with our Blog, and we want to say, upon mixed reviews from our check-in on Four Square, we considered leaving prior placing our order.  But life is an adventure so...

We enjoyed nacho's and salsa for a starter.

Randy ordered a Beef Burrito, Chili Relleno, and a Taco- not bad but those Four Square reviews weigh heavy on our mind.

I went with plain and simple- Chicken Taco's- I was able to eat one of them, but reading those reviews really stole my appitite!!

I don't think we will go back, i didn't find anything wrong with the food, but our appitates were gone!

Indy's Historic Steer-In

Indianapolis, IN
Sunday, May 26. 2013        #indyshistoricsteerin

The races were rained out, we start home Sunday and ride the first 200 miles in the rain- this stinks!!

Looking for lunch on the "Food Network On The Road" app in search of our next adventure.

We start with something "Guy" enjoyed according to the menu - Irish Nachos, we were both surprised and would like to see other establishments do something like this- YUM!!

Randy again goes with one of Guy's favorites - the Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, and a
Salad.  He really like the chicken, very moist!!

I tried the Grilled Chicken with French Fries, and Mac 'n Cheese- it was all good.

The Food Channel did not let us down, the place was neat, and the food was good- small town kinda diner, we would go back just for the Irish Nacho's!!!

D'Arcy's Pint - Irish Pub

Jerome, IL
Saturday, May 25, 2013                #darcyspint

Dinner Saturday evening is also a return visit, tonight, our friends Woody & Linda join us!  The place is packed, and from what we remember, and have seen,  it is always like this!

Randy orders the Oyster Combo Platter - A selection of 3 Guinness Oysters topped with a creamy sauce, breadcrumbs & a blend of cheeses, 3 Bunratty Castle Oysters with spinach, cheese, & breadcrumbs; and 4 lightly breaded, deep-fried Oysters. He really seemed to enjoy them!

I ordered D'Arcy's Famous Shoe - 1/2 Pint-  Pony Shoe!  Hey this is what we came for!!!  Grilled Chicken served over Texas toast, piled high with fries and topped with our unforgettable homemade cheese sauce.  I also had them add tomato.  This is good!! And a lot of food, you can order it with just about anything, if you are there - why not give it a shot!!

Woody and Linda both order burgers, and they both said they were really good.

They also ordered a Chocolate Chunk Brownie- and boy did they enjoy it!! "fudgy texture of a brownie with chunks of chocolate, OMG, this Brownie is so good!"  It looked really good too.

Our waitress was great, we ended up sitting at the bar because there was  a 45 minute wait, and just a word of caution, these stools are tall, I struggled to get onto the chair and slipped getting out- Ouch!

Another stop added to our AMA weekend, we like it, we will go back, and highly recommend it!!
